Alexa Sendukas

Alexa is a Managing Attorney at GHIRP and oversees our legal services for Immigrant Children & Youth program. She was previously a litigation associate attorney at a large law firm and a supervising attorney at an immigration nonprofit, where she provided pro bono representation to unaccompanied minors pursuing humanitarian relief. Alexa has represented clients before the Executive Office for Immigration Review, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Board of Immigration Appeals, and numerous state and federal courts throughout the country. She has won asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and permanent residency for many children and youth seeking protection in the United States, and is passionate about advocating for their right to have a second chance and a bright future.

Alexa received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law School in 2014, her M.S. from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 2014, and her B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin in 2010. At Georgetown, she was a student attorney in the Center for Applied Legal Studies (CALS) clinic, Administrative Editor of the Georgetown Journal of Poverty Law and Policy, Research Assistant for Lives in the Balance: Asylum Adjudication by the Department of Homeland Security (New York: NYU Press, Jan. 2014), and an extern with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C. She is admitted to the Texas Bar, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Western, and Northern Districts of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She was born and raised in Houston and is proud to call this diverse, welcoming community home.
