Vanessa Perez

Vanessa Perez is a GHIRP founding attorney, and previously a Supervising Attorney at the YMCA International Services. Vanessa devoted her four years at the YMCA to serving unaccompanied minors, survivors of domestic violence and other serious crimes, and survivors of human trafficking. From 2018-2020, Vanessa was an Equal Justice Works Fellow representing survivors of human trafficking and conducting outreach educating the community about trafficking prevention in Houston. Vanessa provides each client with legal services and wraparound social services so that they can begin the pathway to recovery and independence. Vanessa has successfully represented clients before the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration Court, the Asylum office, and immigrant children in family courts.

Vanessa was born and raised in Venezuela. She studied law at the Catholic University in Venezuela and she has a Master of Laws degree from Georgetown University Law Center. She is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
